Preparations for the new Eredivisie season are in full swing! After the squad left for training camp in Zeeland yesterday, the next friendly was already scheduled for today, Tuesday, July 15th. In a packed Sportpark Het Schengen in Goes, NAC took on a Zeeland selection. Around 2,000 supporters, many of whom wore yellow and black, witnessed an entertaining evening.
First Half: An Open Match with NAC Dominance
With names like Bielica, Kemper , Kongolo, and Leemans in the starting lineup, NAC started strongly. The Zeeland team, with a familiar surname in defense (Klaas van Hecke, brother of Jan Paul), played compactly and lurked on the counter-attack.
NAC had the first real chance in the fourth minute, when a free kick from Clint Leemans flew just wide of Hoek goalkeeper Finn Murre. However, the Zeeland side immediately showed they weren't going to sit around waiting; striker Schalkwijk narrowly missed a cross from Hage. The first fifteen minutes were evenly matched, with NAC having more possession, but without any clear-cut chances. The crowd witnessed an entertaining match, although they were still slow to materialize.
Midway through the half, former NAC player Gianni Vandepitte made a brilliant play, but his shot was blocked by Bielica. Goalkeeper Murre then just outpaced the speedy Van Hooijdonk. Shortly after, the speedy Sylvio Hage fired wide after a through ball from Yanilio de Nooijer, showing NAC that the Zeeland attackers could be a real pain in the neck.
Then NAC broke loose!
In the 32nd minute, a fantastic cross from Ghalidi grazed Reulen's forehead. Less than a minute later, the ball finally came: NAC scored the first goal! After a good attack that seemed to falter, the ball came back to the feet of Finn Talvitie, who remained calm and slotted the ball past Murre (0-1). And in the 36th minute, the second came! Van Hooijdonk, after some fumbling, managed to get the ball to Pepijn Reulen , who fired home a powerful shot (0-2). Things were now heating up in Goes. In the 41st minute, Sydney van Hooijdonk made it 0-3 by finishing off a well-executed attack in front of an open goal.

The Zeeland team produced another superb attack, with Zenya Deurloo breaking free and passing the ball to Schalkwijk via Erwin Franse and Dijksta, who just couldn't touch it. Just before halftime, there was a moment of "Comedy Capers" in front of the NAC goal, as the Zeeland team managed no fewer than six shots on Bielica's goal, all to no avail. Shortly after, halftime was called.
Second Half: Early Goal & Versluis in Top Form!
With a largely new team (including Kortsmit, Greiml, Hillen, and Versluis), NAC started the second half. And NAC wasn't exactly awake from the dressing room, as the Zeeland side scored in the 47th minute through Ruben de Jager , who tapped in from close range (1-3). The Kloetinge striker immediately looked for more and shot just over the bar a little later.
Still, NAC remained the dominant side. In the 56th minute, Reulen suddenly found himself one-on-one with Matthew Lentink (the goalkeeper who didn't return from vacation until 5 p.m.!), but Lentink emerged victorious.

In the 65th minute, NAC finally scored: after a beautiful combination through the heart of the Zeeland defense, Dion Versluis coolly finished (1-4). NAC continued to press, and in the 69th minute, Jemuel Erat unfortunately missed a great chance to make it 1-5.
But Dion Versluis was on fire! In the 76th minute, he also made it 1-5. After high pressure, the Zeeland team lost possession, and with a beautiful combination, Dion managed to outplay the keeper and, being closely followed by a defender, give the ball just enough speed to slot it into the net.
NAC increasingly had the Zeeland team under control, and the hosts were practically unable to play any football. Versluis blasted the ball straight against the post in the 85th minute, almost a hat trick! However, that hat trick still came! In the 87th minute, a Zeeland striker first ran into goalkeeper Bielica. A quick counter-attack followed, and Dion Versluis was once again one-on-one with the keeper, played him out again, and finished neatly, completing his hat trick!
In the final minutes, NAC relaxed their control a bit and the chances for the Zeeland team piled up, but they didn't create any truly dangerous shots. Roy made a simple save.
NAC thus won 6-1 against the Zeeland Selectie in a match with a friendly atmosphere and plenty of goals! Preparations continue, and the men are on their way to peak form!
